What's happening this week
The little tails are gone now, and all three are starting to look properly, unmistakably human. Tiny elbows can bend, and their heads are still wonderfully oversized compared to the rest of them.
Your bump is already ahead of where a single-baby pregnancy would be at this point — your body quietly making room for the crowd that's coming.
Three little wonders this week
- Each little head still takes up about half of their whole length — big ideas need big brains.
- Tiny hearts have now split into all four proper chambers, working like the real thing.
- All three are strong enough now for spontaneous little wriggles and stretches.
The triplet twist
Because your blood volume is stretching to cover three, it's common to feel more tired or a bit low on iron earlier than someone expecting one baby — easily managed, just worth mentioning to your midwife sooner rather than later.
Something to look forward to
- You're about 8 weeks from the scan where you might learn each of their sexes — often a little later than usual with three, simply because getting a clear view of all of them takes patience.
- Next week, all three officially leave the embryo stage behind.
To Mom:
As your three green olives start to look more like babies, your body is beautifully expanding to make room for them all. You're doing the work of three, so make sure to give yourself three times the grace today.
