What's happening this week
Their brains and lungs have matured to the point that most babies born this week need barely any help at all. Their eyes can focus properly now, blinking and squinting at anything bright.
This is the week many triplet teams are aiming for, and honestly, it shows — you feel full, heavy, and so close. Whatever happens from here, three little humans have done something remarkable, sharing one small home so gracefully.
Three little wonders this week
- That creamy vernix coating is thickening up nicely, and the last of the baby fuzz is fading away.
- Babies born around now usually have the suck-swallow-breathe combo fully sorted — the main thing that decides how easily they'll feed.
- Their fingernails now stretch past their fingertips, ready for their first tiny scratch.
The triplet twist
34 weeks would be considered early for a singleton, but it's effectively term for triplets. Your babies aren't behind anything — multiples simply run on their own beautiful clock, and this is exactly where it was always meant to land.
Something to look forward to
- Delivery could happen any time from now — many teams plan for somewhere between 34 and 36 weeks.
- About 3 weeks until 37 weeks, as far as most teams go with triplets.
Why week 34 matters
Around 34 weeks is when most triplets choose to arrive, and it's often the planned date. Babies born now are usually healthy and breathing well on their own, sometimes needing a short stay to nail feeding and staying warm. Getting here is an achievement worth celebrating.
To Mom:
This is a common goalpost for triplet pregnancies, and you've arrived. Breathe, rest, and let yourself feel proud.
