What's happening this week

Their little skulls stay soft and slightly flexible, ready for the journey ahead, while three immune systems quietly stock up on antibodies borrowed from you. They're laying down the fat that will help them stay warm and snug once they're out in the world.

Most triplet mums are on close watch by now, and your best daily clue is simply movement — you know each baby's normal rhythm better than any monitor ever could.

Three little wonders this week

  • Their skull bones are still loosely joined, which is exactly what lets their brains keep growing fast after birth.
  • The antibodies crossing over from you right now will help protect all three through their first months.
  • Their eyes can already narrow and widen in response to light, like tiny practice squints.

The triplet twist

Many triplets spend a little time in the nursery even when perfectly healthy, simply learning to feed and hold their own warmth — often a couple of weeks. It helps to picture your going-home day landing a bit after the birth day, not on it.

Something to look forward to

  • 1 week until 34 weeks, a favourite arrival week for trios.
  • About 4 weeks until 37 weeks, considered full term when you're expecting more than one.

To Mom:

Your body may be asking for more rest than ever. Listen to it. Growing three near-term babies is worthy of every nap and early night.
