Week 25
Each baby is about the size of a rutabaga this week
- Weight each
- 660 g · 1 lb 7 oz
- Length each
- 34.6 cm · 13.6 in
What's happening this week
Real hair with real colour and texture is coming in, and three sets of lungs are filling out their fine web of blood vessels. They're steadily tucking on more baby softness by the day.
Things are getting cosy in there. From here your three start arranging themselves around one another rather than tumbling freely — one tucked up high, one low, one across is a classic triplet arrangement.
Three little wonders this week
- Little noses that have been plugged are opening up, letting all three practise breathing motions using amniotic fluid.
- Their hands are fully formed with working fingers, and each one can make a proper little fist.
- Baby softness is just getting started now and will multiply many times over before birth.
The triplet twist
Carrying three often means your iron stores get a real workout, so expect more frequent blood checks and, sometimes, an iron infusion rather than just tablets.
Something to look forward to
- 3 weeks until the 28-week mark.
- Growth scans usually shift to every two weeks from around 28 weeks on.
To Mom:
It is so special to think of your three babies getting cosy and arranging themselves in there. Remember that it's perfectly okay to ask for help or slow down—you are nourishing three lives, and you deserve all the comfort in the world.
