What's happening this week

Blood vessels in three sets of lungs are getting ready for that very first breath, whenever it comes. They can hear well enough to startle at a loud sound and to know your voice from anyone else's.

You're standing right at the doorstep of a big week. Every single day between now and next week is quietly, meaningfully working in your three's favour.

Three little wonders this week

  • Their skin is still a little loose and wrinkled, waiting on the plumping fat that arrives in the third trimester.
  • Hearing has come along so well that a loud noise can make all three jump at once.
  • Every extra day they spend snug inside you right now makes a real difference.

The triplet twist

Triplets tend to be a little smaller than single babies at the same stage, which is exactly why your scans measure each one against curves built just for multiples, not a one-baby chart.

Something to look forward to

  • Next week is the big one: the viability milestone.
  • About 5 weeks until 28 weeks, when the outlook keeps climbing.

To Mom:

Take a deep breath and give yourself credit for how far you and your babies have come. Every single day is a victory, and you are building a beautiful foundation for your three little ones with every heartbeat.
