What's happening this week

A soft layer of fat is starting to settle under three sets of skin, the beginning of the padding that will keep them cosy after they're born. Their skeletons are quietly turning from bendy cartilage into real bone.

They're getting close enough now to bump into each other's space. From here on, your three aren't just growing bigger — they're growing more aware that they've got company in there.

Three little wonders this week

  • Sweat glands are switching on, and their umbilical cords are getting thicker and sturdier.
  • All three can move their eyes now, even though the lids stay shut for a while longer.
  • Their hearts are now being run by the brain instead of just beating on their own steam.

The triplet twist

Carrying three asks a bit more of your blood pressure, so expect a cuff and a cup at every single visit — it's just your team keeping close watch, kindly and routinely.

Something to look forward to

  • The anatomy scan is likely just around the corner, often booked a little later for triplets so everyone's easier to see.
  • You're roughly 7 weeks out from the viability milestone.

To Mom:

It is completely normal to feel like your body is moving at its own pace right now. Remember that you are creating three unique little people, and taking time to rest and breathe is exactly what they need you to do.
